Chocolate Acorns!

Okay, so I found myself between cake pop projects (new one coming this weekend!), but I had some energy to make a small treat creation.  I saw this idea online, and I had to try it:  chocolate acorns!

This is ridiculously easy.  Much, much easier than cake pops, and they take far less time.  Not only do they taste great, but they look amazing- especially considering how little time they take!  Here's what I used:

  • chocolate kisses for the base (I used the Hershey Aero variety of kisses, because the chocolate isn't very  dense)
  • mini Nutter Butter cookies for the top (you can use Ritz bites, mini Nilla Wafers, or even round pretzel sandwich bites if you want)
  • mini chocolate chips for the stem on top (you can use regular chocolate chips or small bits of pretzel sticks)
Melt some chocolate in a small dish.  Using a toothpick, apply some melted chocolate to the center of the Nutter Butter cookie.  Place a mini chocolate chip on the melted chocolate and let dry.

Then take some more melted chocolate on a toothpick and apply it to the Nutter Butter cookie (opposite the side with the mini chocolate chip).  Take a chocolate kiss and apply it to the melted chocolate.  Let dry.

And voila, you should now have an adorable (and delicious) chocolate acorn.  Impress your friends and family at Thanksgiving with this sweet little treat!
